The SPMT™ (Serial Port Memory Technology) Consortium, founded in 2009, is chartered with creating and promoting a new, open, and royalty free memory interface standard based on serial technology for the mobile market. The SPMT specification defines a technology that addresses the high bandwidth requirements for future mobile devices, yet requires less power, provides significantly reduced pin count, and is scalable to drive down overall system cost. SPMT is the first of its kind technology that has been developed specifically for mobile memory.
