SPMT is a first-of-its-kind memory standard for dynamic random access memory (DRAM). SPMT will enable extended battery life, bandwidth flexibility, reduced pin count, and lower power demand for mobile and portable devices.

Demand by mobile service providers for solutions enabling them to give consumers more data-intensive, media-rich capabilities drove the formation of the SPMT Consortium.
